The Great scientist and Nobel Prize Winner for Medicine, Academician I. P. Pavlov has always been a model figure associated with complete devotion to his profession, an ideal for those who have made up their minds to pursue a career in medicine. The basics of human anatomy, which are taught at schools and universities all over the world, begin with the Pavlov theory. It was his name that was given to the State Medical University in Ryazan; the town where Pavlov was born and first started his professional career.
Ryazan is situated 150 km from Moscow and populated by approximately 1 million people. Ryazan State Medical University was founded in 1950 on the basis of the Third Moscow Medical Institute. Today the University is one of the most prestigious medical higher education establishments in Russia. It is a member of the World Health Organization, and it closely collaborates with foreign educational and research organizations operating in the area of medicine, such as the University of Arizona Medical College (USA), the US Pharmacopeia Convention, and others. |

Ryazan State Medical University is licensed and accredited by the state to prepare specialists in Medicine. The University degree confirms that its owner has achieved the standard of theoretical knowledge and practical skills sufficient for self-dependent medical activities in accordance with the national requirements, and it entitles the person certified to exercise medicine professionally on the territory of the Russian Federation and in other countries.
On the university course completion students receive a degree with the international standard appendix. Student lifestyle is a very special concept. It is associated primarily with the fun of whatever is happening, with new hopes, and meeting interesting people. The University is a town within a town; you can get everything you need right there. The campus, which was specially designed and built for these purposes, gives space to over 20 buildings for classes and laboratory work, with large lecture halls and Rector’s office. Training labs, where students acquire their practical skills in treatment and research, are excellently equipped. The center of the campus area is taken by the 4-storey Library building, which contains an enormous collection of books in Russian as well as in English and French. There are special computer rooms and the Internet center for self-study in the library. |

| Hostels and Other Facilities: |
Students stay at comfortable university hostels, where each of them shares a room with one or two other students. Rooms are properly furnished and provided with bedding. All the students’ hostels are equipped with the internet line Wi-Fi. Unlike student hostels in many other countries, Russian hostels have a kitchen on every floor, so that students can cook by themselves whatever they wish to eat. All the ingredients needed may be bought in the shops in the campus, or in the town stores outside it. In case you don’t feel like cooking, there is a student cafe, which is probably the most popular venue all over the campus. Students who are good at cooking prepare dishes of their national cuisine – Indian, Arab, African or Chinese, so that no one has to miss the home flavors. For those who want to keep fit there are gyms, fitness clubs, and sports centers. |

In order to bring the studied theories into practice, the University provides its students with free access to more than 25 large hospitals and clinics of Ryazan, as well as a unique university pharmacy producing medicine, and dental clinics.
